What’s been going on with your water so far this year?

In Virginia, government agencies and water officials are carefully monitoring water levels of dams after flood watches and warnings have been issued. Many dams are getting old and aren’t as structurally sound as they used to be. This is another excellent application of how today’s modern IoT sensor technologies can help save time, money, and lives if they are deployed for flood and water level monitoring.

The Department of Environmental Quality has tested the water quality and found dangerous levels of toxins in the water. For some families, their homes had water with over 7 times the toxic levels according to the US EPA.

Water is becoming more and more scarce in the states. The U.S. government has just launched a project funding $100 million for helping to solve America’s water crisis. The research will include finding environmentally and economically sustainable methods for desalinating water in Smart Cities. Finding better, more effective ways to remove salt from water will provide us with a lot more safe, drinkable water.
